Bananbrød

Today I dusted, vacumed, cleaned the microwave, annnnd....made this....

Anyway, I thought I'd post the recipe because it came out amazing.  I found this recipe from one of my favorite cooking blogs and just added chocolate chips, nutmeg, and cinnamon because I wanted it to taste fall-ish. It's not too banana-y and super duper moist and yummy. Not to mention its dense (which didn't stop me from eating it until i felt sick) and filling and really easy to make.

This is what you need.

Mooooshed bananas look gross. Just use a fork for this. or a meat tenderizer. I feel like every time I say 'use a fork to mash/crunch this' using a meat tenderizer is usually easier.

Mmmmm look at it cooling all yummmy in its pan. Normally when I let things cool I open the window and make it cool faster so I can eat it sooner. But A) it was raining...and no one likes soggy banana bread. and B) I wanted to eat it warm. duh.

  • 2 stick of Butter
  • 1 1/2 cup granulated Sugar
  • 3 whole Eggs
  • 4 ripe Mashed Ripe Bananas
  • 4 cups Flour
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 1/2 cup Sour Cream
  • 1 1/4 (or...more) cups chocolate chips

Alright, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F, or about 800 C if you're like me and dealing with that sort of conversion. Then you're going to mix butter and sugar together and add eggs, and then your mooooshed bananas. In a separate bowl mix dry indigence. Combine dry and 'sugar butter' together and slowly add in the sour cream. Oh and don't forget to add chocolate chips. Like you could forget to add chocolate chips. Put in your pan (the original recipe says use a bunt pan, i didn't have one, it turned out fine in my deep bread pan, but needed longer in the oven), and bake for around 1 hour and 10 minutes.

Let it cool, get out the butter, and enjoy while its still warm.

Also fun fact. This is Danish baking powder and and baking soda. Took me 20 minutes staring at them to realize which was which. I felt silly.

Thanks again http://thepioneerwoman.com/ for showing me banana bread is wonderful.  And thanks Mom for that giant bag of Nestle chocolate chips....and yes I do eat them alone in my room late at night.
This is what I did this weekend.

Props to A and her HTC for this pic

As we all might have noticed I have a weakness and it's called food. A and I went for some sweet treats at Cafe Norden after a long day of exploring Danish design. A had heard that this place had amazing hot chocolate, and whoever told her....was right. Amazing and rich and delicious, with loads of real cream on top and little cookies to dip in it. We also couldn't help but buy cakes too. Mine was a little too rich and I ended up eat half and then picking the marzipan coating off it (drool) and just eating that. A's raspberry tart on the other hand....bahhhh. I wish that'd been what I ordered!

It was also my idea to check out a couple of museums this weekend. Um...yeah, sorry A. We started off by going to a modern street art gallery in Vesterbro called V1. It was just as amazing as my Lonely Planet guide made it sound a ridiculous waste of time. Lonely Planet loured me here with promises of street art and Banksy-esque exhibits. It was located in the back of the meat packing district in what was obviously an old slaughter house. The down stairs gallery was very definitely an old meat locker.  We could pretty much feel the presence of dead cows and pigs. The art so unmemorable I wont get into it

Next we hit up the Danish Design Musume.  It was alright, had a great gift shop and amazing book store area. But unfortunately A and I found more inspiring designs in the books than we did in the rest of the museum. The two main floors were more about concept design than actual displays.  There was a  lot of reading and it probably would have been more interesting if I wanted to pay money to read things I could have learned on line for free hadn't been expecting to see weird chairs and Scandinavian book cases. The basement was more examples of Danish design, but it wasn't really all that exciting. And not really worth the 60kn entrance fee.

Our last stop was the famous department store called Illum.  Now, Andy Warhol said that when you think about it department stores are like museums. And it's so SO true.  I learned way more about Danish desgin window shopping through Illum's like 7 floors than I did at the museum. I also have a wish-list a mile long for all the things I want from there to decorate my house with.

This is Illum.  Andy Warhol also said that he didn't think people died, they just go to Department stores. If that's true, this is where I want my after life to be.

Anyway, I have banana bread int he oven that smells amazing. And a really good looking book to dig into.

Thinks I ♥ About Denmark:

#5. Currently Denmark is losing sunlight at a rate of 5minutes a day. So everyday it the sun comes up 2.5 minutes later, and goes down 2.5 minutes earlier. This means, when I over sleep I have an excuse that I just thought it was morning. It also means I can go to bed at 8:00 like an old lady and feel no guilt.
