More Crappy Weather and the Nutcracker

I haven't posted anything in a while because I'm really very lazy. And my last few posts, lets be honest, have been rather lacking.

I feel rather pathetic because I've been doing a lot of baking lately. And none of it has made it's way to this blog....because I know you're all very interested in recipes and probably are very upset with me at this moment. Riiiight. Don't worry, something will be posted up soon eventually.

What's new this week? How about what's new since I posted last. Well it's cold--wait, I think I've already over discussed that subject. Well, let me just touch base on this one more time then, it's cold. It stormed last week, and this weekend, and hopefully will rain pour from the sky in buckets of icy slush and soak everything (while I'm sitting inside drinking tea, and not while I'm bike riding thanks). There is snow in Jutland (Jutland is the eastern 'mainland' of Denmark that connects to Germany. For all those who didn't know, I live on a large island). The weather man promised me snow at the end of the week. In short, this girl is totally unprepared but completely excited. And I promise I wont talk about the weather again until it snows.

I started Danish lessons. I'm terrible. I think my teacher secretly laughs at me every time I open my mouth. I'm actually wring this instead of doing my Danish homework. Wooopes. I'm also skipping class tomorrow to go to Goose 2's Christmas Gymnastic Show. We're all very excited and proud of her. She's been sick pretty much nonstop for the last month and a half (and got a pretty nasty concision a few weeks ago), so she missed quiet a few practices, so we weren't sure she'd make the Christmas Show Team. But she did! So tomorrow we get to see her in action! I have been told she has a rather Snazzy Competition Leoitard, but I can't see it until tomorrow.

Speaking of Goose 2 being sick. Someone missed school last Friday because of a headache and ended up going to see the Danish Royal Ballet preform the Nutcracker in Copenhagen. I got to go too, since you know...I'm the nanny. I love the Nutcracker. Mom and I used to go see it  almost every year. I looked forward to it every December. I would get dressed up in something Chritmasy and we'd drive up to Humboldt State University, I'd sit excitedly waiting to drink hot chocolate and eat home made fundraiser cookies at intermission, then during the last 40 minutes Mom would have to elbow me in the ribs as I started to get lulled to sleep by the lovely classical music. It is definitely in my top three favorite Christmas traditions. Maybe even top two.

The Danish Royal Ballet did a pretty good job. I mean, they're no North Coast Dance Company (The Danish Ballet had new costumes, elaborate sets, and an amazing live professional orchestra pit....) but they were decent. Okay it was amazing. I definitely felt incredibly lucky.  I didn't fall asleep either (older, wiser, consume more caffeine...). On a side note, the Nutcracker will always remind me of spending time with Mom. But it also reminds me of my fabulous dancing Soul Sister, whom will always be the only noteworthy Russian Dancer in any performance of the Nutcracker, ever. As it happens, there wasn't actually a Russian Dance in the Danish version. I was very upset, but even if there had been, Kai would still have been the best. In short, I miss my mommy and my best friend.

I was going to post all sorts of other exciting things, but that really took the energy out of me. Now I think I'll go make scones. And continue not doing my Danish homework....
