Copenhagen wants it to be spring

Today it is an usually beautiful day out. The sun is shinning, there is only a slight breeze, and no rain, no rain, no rain. It's the calm after (or before another?) storm. I even left the door open while I was mopping the mud room today, only to close it after 15 minutes because despite the cloudless skies it's still 35 degrees. I should have known, this morning during our walk in the forest Tila and I stared squinty eyed (we were wearing out glasses) at the second lake we pass (the second one is really more of a big pond) trying to figure out why it looked so darn still, and so darn...funny. Then I realized the surface had a thin layer of ice covering it. Tila figured out just how thin it was when she stepped into the frozen mud, put one paw on the lake shore, and was suddenly almost shoulder deep in water. Her surprise was the entertainment of my day.

Today was also the bane of my existence as far as house work goes. It was mopping day, and how i hate mopping. Hate, hate, hate. It just takes so darn loooong. I walked the dog, ate breakfast, vacuumed and mopped the house, then took a shower and suddenly there were children home and my hair is still wet and frizzy. And the morning and early afternoon are gone. Where did they go? Into the mop bucket, that's where.

I thought about making cinnamon rolls, but I'm still over loaded on sugar from Christmas. And they take a really long time to make. And I had to mop today. Have I mentioned I love mopping. not.

I'm sitting at the table drinking tea, because we're out of coffee and only have nespreso, which is amazing and wonderful and delicious, but at the same time not as lovely and tasty as a cup of fresh brewed coffee. And I like tea, but it just doesn't quite hit the spot. It's a good thing I really like the booger-eaters and have never (regardless of how tired I am) had any reason to get mad at them, and also a good thing that they both have friends around to entertain them, because today with only tea i fear I'm not very entertaining. My idea of a good time right now would be a pedicure. Oh lord how i miss pedicures!!!! I have homeless feet right now.

I know, not a pretty picture.

Forget I said that.

I did buy really pretty socks this week to cover them up (not that when I bought them I thought 'oh hey, now no one will notice my homeless feet.' I usually wear socks, just to clarify). They're knit, and knee high, and lavender, and wooly, and have big bows on the sides. I'm going to wear them with....with....I don't have anything they'll match, so I'm going to wear them around the house with really clashing sweaters and my hair in a top knot. Don't judge.

Reason I ♥ Denmark
