What Not to Do When You're Camping in Denmark

Just a few things that I learned you shouldn't do when deciding to camp over night in Denmark's 'wilderness'.

1. Ride your street bike, laden with camping gear, through the forest on mountain bike paths. For a good two or three hours.

3. Willing embark on your camping trip without a tent.

4.Trust Google maps to bring you to a camp site.

5. Similarly, don't trust the park map; instead wonder around the park and tire yourself out by avoiding the maps directions completely.

6. If you see chopped firewood don't pick it up, because you can always go back and find it in the dark.

7. If you can't find a camping shelter, just sleep outside in the sand.

8. Pick a make-shift camping site located directly in between and in the middle off all major trails.

9. Give up quickly and do not explore the area around your camping site in case there is anything better.

10. Bring a substantial amount more wine and beer to drink than water.

11. Start drinking alcohol well before you make a fire.

12. Trust Danish weather.

13. Don't worry that you might be hopelessly lost.

14. Again, count on Google Maps to get to out of a park.

15. Since Denmark is a mostly flat country, find an area with lots of hills, so when you're done camping, wet, miserable, dehydrated, and hung over, you have to bike forty minutes back to town uphill the entire way.

Somethings you should do when camping in Denmark?

1.Spend the trip with amazing, wonderful people so no matter how ridiculous the situation you've gotten yourselves into is, your trip is a success.

2. Enjoy every minute of your wet, soggy, hung over misery, and remember you only live once.

3. Open your eyes at 5:00 am and watch the sunrise from the coziness of your sleeping bag.

4. Go to brunch when you make it back to civilization....

And 5.  maybe make a mental note to never go camping again without a tent.
